Coming off the “musical awakening” that was House of Protection’s 2024 debut EP, GALORE, the post-everything duo of Aric Improta and Stephen Harrison have revealed they’ve now entered their “Afterlife” era. Specifically, they’ve just dropped a track of the same today (February 18th) to tease their forthcoming sophomore EP, Outrun You All.
A press release explains that the new House of Protection tune is technically one of their oldest, having been prepped during the earliest days of the former Fever 333 members’ current project. The band noted that the tune was written and demoed shortly after they crafted their first single, “It’s Supposed to Hurt.”
The song thrives on whip-cracking sound effects, industrially groove-attacked melodies and occasionally auto-tuned, next phase-anticipating wordplay (“This is how I absolutely want to die/Go ahead and meet me in the afterlife”).
While the song hits heavy, House of Protection noted that they felt the need to hang onto the early track for a bit before they were able to, as it’s put in “Afterlife,” level up and levitate.
“We liked it a lot, but ultimately, we pushed to avoid heavy half-time on GALORE. We intentionally wanted to keep that whole first EP pretty fast,” Improta and Harrison commented in a joint statement. “After our debut shows, we realized how much we missed the feeling live, so we revisited it and refined the ideas with [producers/collaborators] Jordan [Fish] and Nick [DePirro]. Now it’s one of our favorites.”

Though the full details have yet to arrive behind Outrun You All, the EP is expected to drop May 23rd via Red Bull Records.
Ahead of the EP release, House of Protection will head off as tour support for Poppy’s forthcoming They’re All Around Us North American tour. They start the trip April 1st at Brooklyn, New York’s Paramount and wrap that leg of dates at Austin, Texas’ Emo’s venue on April 17th.
