As if HANABIE.’s wildly eclectic Harajuku-core wasn’t already animated enough, the Japanese outfit have now officially entered the anime world by delivering the closing theme for the new Momentary Lily action series.
HANABIE.’s “Tasty Survivor” hit music streamers today (January 30th), but it’s likewise the ending theme for the recently-unveiled Momentary Lily series on the Crunchyroll platform. The tie-in song was written specifically for the show, with vocalist Yukina noting that it “reflects the world and characters of Momentary Lily while also capturing the essence of our band life.”
“From the intense ‘eat or be eaten’ vibe of live band battles to the exhilarating build-up toward the chorus, it mirrors the way we warm up for a live show and the anticipation of listeners heading to the venue,” she explained in a statement, adding that HANABIE. “hope this song becomes a source of energy for everyone living their lives to the fullest all over the world.”
While a music video is apparently impending, you can sample HANABIE.’s uniquely frenzied blend of breakbeats, mosh rhythms, fast-and-twitchy raps, death growls , super-crunchy pop-metal riffs and more via the player up above.
As previously reported, HANABIE. delivered their Bucchigiri Tokyo EP at the beginning of December, and are set to hit the road on a North American tour with Kim Dracula in early March. You’ll find the full details on the tour route here.
