It’s time to face GORE.’s “Wrath.” The rising Texan metalcore faction have announced the impending arrival of their sophomore EP, IF YOU DO NOT FEAR ME…, by releasing a dark, melodic and mega-djenting new song called “Wrath.”
Earlier this week, the act teased the song — their second of 2025, behind the June-released “Sepsis” — with a short video of vocalist Haley Roughton sitting in a meadow, playing a dew-soft melody on an electric piano as she sings sweetly of “two secret lovers…made to hurt each other.” Of the aesthetic, Roughton quipped in an Instagram comment: “Disney Princess metal is so back.”
Now, the song is available on streamers and through a petal-flowing visualizer. The studio treatment does feature Roughton going full-Belle in the verses, but she also gets some beastly screams in throughout the cut — which also balances melodious verses with a jarringly djent-quaked backend breakdown, and has Roughton singing of a revenge that will be sweeter than milk and honey.
“‘Wrath’ is the culmination of resentment, cynicism and fear that was made from the experiences in [2024’s] A Bud That Never Blooms,” the band wrote in a joint statement, adding of their previous EP, “Between the societal turmoil of ‘Doomsday,’ the death of romance in ‘Babylon,’ and the familial heartbreak in ‘Heaven Is Above Me,’ the human condition can wreak havoc on what was supposed to be stability and peace.”
