Hear former A PERFECT CIRCLE bassist PAZ LENCHANTIN’s debut solo single “Hang Tough”

After playing in an eclectic array of acts including A Perfect Circle, Pixies and Zwan, bassist Paz Lenchantin is launching a solo career. The longtime musician will be issuing her first full-length, Triste, a little later in the fall, but has just unveiled a subtly glammy first single called “Hang Tough” — which also features contributions from her former APC bandmate Josh Freese (drums) and current Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen.

The new song is being previewed through a music video portraying Lenchantin as a bat-winged force swinging through emotional wreckage and pushing past the pain (“You left me hangin’ on a cross and you know it/I gave you all you want, but then you blow it”). While Lenchantin is spreading her wings with the solo release, the vid also finds her hitting the soft yet vibrant old-school glam ballad with Freese, Van Leeuwen and pianist Jeffertiti.

Lenchantin worked on Triste in Mexico throughout 2024, and it includes “songs about faith, doubt, and self-discovery” that reflect her life since she departed her longtime bass role with Pixies that same year. The album was mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and is further described as being a “fiercely personal and expansive statement that stamps the first chapter in [Lenchantin’s] solo career.”

“I had to make this record on my own,” Lenchantin commented, “not to prove anything, but just to have faith that music can nurture me back. And it did.”

Triste is being self-released through Lenchantin’s Hideous Human Records on October 17th. Check out the cover art and tracklisting down below.
