Here’s some huge news to get your tongues wagging: the Callous Daoboys are back with an intensely hybridized new single called “Gigantic Parasite Tongue,” and they’ve served it up inside of an intense new music video.
The song, which is the band’s first to arrive since the release of last year’s I Don’t Want to See You in Heaven album, goes for broke, Daoboys-style — running from concrete-crushing mathcore anti-grooves with momentary lapses of hyper-pop, towards bass drops that sound like the master got dropped into a drum of acid, towards nightmarishly mobbed-out lyrics about “ice picks and pitchforks and coke bloat,” towards vocalist Carson Pace crooning his heart out above an aching violin motif.
It’s a lot to take in, with guitarist Dan Hodson describing the vibe in a press release as “Meshuggah playing Future Breed Machine live at Download 2005.” Pace added: “This song is going to change the world.”
The video, directed by Sam Hahn, stars a “modern angel who is mercilessly kidnapped and dragged away” — by the Daoboys, no less. After stalking their prey, the group perform a “brutal ritual” on the plainclothes cherub with their bolt cutters, and then try to sew a set of stolen wings onto Pace “in a desperate attempt to transfer divinity to another.”
It’s not fully gory, but disturbing enough to give a mild warning on the content. You can peep the artfully intense clip up above.
