After teasing the arrival of his next album earlier in the spring, Blackbraid is officially back. The indigenous black-metal trailblazer has just unveiled his first original song since 2023, a monstrous return titled “Wardrums at Dawn on the Day of My Death.”
The new single teases Blackbraid’s much-anticipated Blackbraid III full-length, which is out later this summer. While the solo black-metal artist dropped a cover of I’s “Warriors” last year, “Wardrums at Dawn on the Day of My Death” marks the first Blackbraid-penned crusher since his II LP from 2023.
Accordingly, the song hurtles out the gate with a series of fiery blasts, lacerating guitar trills and Blackbraid’s powerful screechings on blood, chaos and the drums of war battering themselves through the wind. A concert video that incorporates a smudging ritual was directed by Marshmallows, and it can be seen up above.
As revealed in April, Blackbraid’s third full-length is being self-released on August 8th, and it will be supported by a fall North American tour. You’ll find the album’s tracklisting and cover art, as well as the tour dates, down below.
Earlier this year, Blackbraid made an appearance on SpiritWorld’s ultra-thrashing Helldorado track, “Oblivion.”
