New York’s Black Satellite are currently bringing their nu-dustrial sound to the masses as openers on Marilyn Manson’s current tour. It’s turning out to be a big spring for the rising Big Apple outfit, as they’ve also teamed with Revolver to premiere a new single called “Downfall.”
The song teases Black Satellite’s forthcoming sophomore album, Aftermath, and was produced alongside Kane Churko (Papa Roach, In This Moment) at The Hideout Studio in Henderson, Nevada.
The song details toxic relationships, with vocalist Larissa Vale leaning into raspy and roaring lines about about emotional suffocation above a melodic throwback groove.
“‘Downfall’ casts a light on the complexities of dealing with a really toxic person in your life and all the needless destruction and collateral damage created as a result,” the singer explains. “It’s really about reaching your absolute breaking point where you don’t even have the energy to stand up for yourself anymore. It’s kind of the sentiment of ‘If you’re going down, then I guess I am too.’ Essentially giving in to the fight because it’s completely eaten you alive to the point where there’s nothing left.”
