Ahead of revealing the unknown expanses of their forthcoming The Blue Nowhere album in full, progressive mainstays Between the Buried and Me have offered up the record’s cool and balladic, if slightly twisted title track.
“The Blue Nowhere” is the third tease from the impending LP, and follows the thrillingly funked “Things We Tell Ourselves in the Dark” and the manic, metal-mashing “Absent Thereafter.” The record’s title cut — a slow-swaying piece built on melodic synth phrasings and gentle-bump bass work, yet still juiced with a from-the-hip guitar solo — is described by the band as “the most glaringly peculiar track on the album, in that it is an exercise in simplicity.”
“We built most of the tune from just a very basic chordal vamp, which really captured a vibe that we wanted to live in for the duration of the song,” guitarist Paul Waggoner said in a statement. “There are a few dynamic shifts in there but they are much more subtle than folks might expect. We love how this thing turned out, and feel like it sits perfectly in the context of the album as a whole.”

As previously reported, The Blue Nowhere sees release September 12th via Between the Buried and Me’s new label home, Inside Out Music. An Opaque Custard vinyl version of album is available for pre-order right now in Revolver’s shop.
