Five Finger Death Punch have been celebrating their 20th anniversary as a band throughout 2025, issuing greatest hits releases featuring re-recorded versions of some of their favorite songs. Following their springtime team-up with In This Moment, 5FDP have unveiled a new version of “The End,” which now features contributions from kawaii-metal benders BABYMETAL.
The new tune figures on 5FDP’s forthcoming Best Of – Volume II, which features 17 newly recorded and revamped cuts from their catalogue, as well as a pair of live recordings. As for “The End” — a cut from 2022’s AfterLife — the track is modeled reasonably similarly up front, between its doom-glossed acoustic intro and gravelly vocalizations from Ivan Moody.
SU-METAL flips the feel in the second verse, however, by readapting Moody’s original lyrics in Japanese, and bringing a BABYMETAL-melodic treatment to the section. The singer explained “The End” was a nice chance to link up, having encountered 5FDP on the road a decade ago.
“Five Finger Death Punch and BABYMETAL had performed at the same festival overseas back in 2015, so I was really happy thinking they might have remembered me from then,” SU-METAL recalled in a statement.
“I sang Japanese lyrics inspired by and based on the original lyrics of ‘The End,’ and spent a lot of time experimenting to figure out what kind of voice would best suit such a deep, cool track. My favorite part of the song is the flow from the section starting with ‘Negai o kakete’ right after the chorus into the break — I loved how my voice gradually got covered and engulfed by Ivan’s growl, which gave me chills. I hope listeners will enjoy that moment as well.”

5FDP’s forthcoming Best Of – Volume II is out October 24th, and is currently up for pre-order in Revolver’s shop in a limited edition double-vinyl pressing on Blood Smoke-colored wax (only 250 copies made).
