Seemingly materializing out of thin air, Avenged Sevenfold have unveiled a new tune titled “Magic” as part of a content drop for Call of Duty‘s Black Ops 7 Season 01.
The game franchise’s latest update has brought new maps, weapons, skins, mechanics and more to Black Ops 7. Better yet, for the metalheads, it also includes a new A7X tune, which is available as an unlockable Easter egg in the game — but has also been released to YouTube via an interactive “Interrogation Room” VR video.
The song launches into sinister (or should we say Synster) down-picked riffage, weird synth swirls, hammered-down kit explorations and the sound of M. Shadows brooding and growling paradoxical aphorisms (“Living always / Always dying”) in his search for the eternal light.
An auto-tune heavy section full of sickly synth harmonies is followed by a darker breakdown and big screams, before returning to the chorus.
The song officially hits streamers tomorrow (December 6th), but for the time being you can give it a look via the 360° VR video up above. It’s suggested to watch this using the official YouTube VR app and an 8K headset, to fully immerse yourself in the A7X/Call of Duty crossover.
“Magic” continues Avenged Sevenfold’s long partnership with the video game franchise. The band had also contributed the “Mad Hatter” track to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 , and Shadows officially joined the Duty-verse in 2019 as a playable character.
