Deathgasm are finally back and ready shred — “too bad they’re still lame as hell.” Or, at least that’s the way a new sarcastic, guts-flinging trailer for upcoming, horns-raising horror-comedy Deathgasm II: Goremageddon puts it. The good news is the soundtrack for the musical monster movie is also set to include brutal songs from the likes of GWAR, Sanguisugabogg, Frozen Soul, Alien Weaponry and more.
A press release touts that the sequel to director Jason Lei Howden’s cult 2015 effort, Deathgasm, features “the most skull-shattering metal soundtrack in movie history,” and likewise incorporates cuts from Anvil, Skinless, Havok, Dragoncorpse, Bulletbelt, Kaosis with Carla Harvey, and more. As previously reported, the film likewise features an original score from Trivum heavy-hitter Matthew Heafy.
The film itself receives its world premiere September 21st at Austin, Texas’ Fantastic Fest. The sequel is said to further dial into the “headbanging gore and juvenile humor” of the original film, while also promising to be “louder, bloodier, and more gleefully unhinged.” Per the trailer, it picks up several years after Deathgasm first summoned evil while playing a piece of forbidden music. It seems like the Black Hymn may soon be heard again.
“Deathgasm II: Goremageddon is a face-melting splatterfest made for the misfits, the freaks, the outcasts, the headbangers, and the gorehounds,” Howden said. “In a world divided, heavy metal and horror fans are an international family united by our passion for extreme entertainment. Deathgasm II is one big, brutal ‘HORNS UP’ to that family.”
The new movie brings back actors Milo Cawthorne as Brodie and Kimberley Crossman as Medina, alongside James Joshua Blake, Sam Berkley, and Daniel Cresswell. The film also introduces new characters performed by Kieran Charnock, Harrison Keefe, and Maggie Nicole Robertson.
