Axl Rose is ready to reveal a futuristic “Paradise City” through an upcoming graphic novel series inspired by Guns N’ Roses classic 1987 debut LP, Appetite for Destruction.
Details behind the hard rock frontman’s upcoming project with Sumerian Comics was confirmed today (September 29th), with it being noted that the upcoming Axl Rose: Appetite for Destruction is going to be a multi-volume, cyberpunk-inspired series that casts Rose as “a half-human, half-robot who lives on the fringes.”
Press materials add that Rose “finds solace in the music of a back-alley lounge singer,” and heads on a quest after the singer “vanishes under mysterious circumstances.”
“Axl Rose: Appetite for Destruction is a raw, neon-noir fever dream, part rock anthem, part cyberpunk prophecy. Axl and I built a world where rebellion isn’t just attitude, it’s survival,” Sumerian Comics co-founder and series co-creator Nathan Yocum said in a statement, adding, “It’s Axl like you’ve never seen him before, on the front lines of a battle for humanity’s future.”
The story was conceived by Rose and Yocum, and it features art from Frank Mazzoli (DUNE: Edge of a Crysknife, Rebel Moon: Nemesis), colors by Antonio Antro (Hell Is Us, The Offspring: Come Out and Play), and lettering by Micah Myers (American Psycho).
An arrival date has yet to be pegged for Axl Rose: Appetite for Destruction, but pre-orders for the book — as well as bundle options with slipcases, maps, t-shirts and more — are up over here, via Sumerian Comics.
