Coming off this week’s news that Guns N’ Roses split with their longtime drummer Frank Ferrer following a 19-year run, the veteran rockers have now announced his replacement: Barbarians of California and AWOLNATION percussionist Isaac Carpenter.
The band confirmed their latest pick-up in a press release today (March 20th), explaining that it’ll be Carpenter hitting the skins throughout GN’R’s upcoming “Because What You Want N’ What You Get are Two Completely Different Things” tour across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
While Carpenter has most recently been spending his time playing drums with AWOLNATION-adjacent hardcore faction Barbarians of Hardcore, his music career dates back to the mid Nineties.
Over the years, he’s also played with the likes of GN’R bassist Duff McKagan’s Loaded project, A Perfect Circle, American Idol’s Adam Lambert, The Exies, Ours, Black Lab and more. He’s also performed on a number of film and television projects.
Carpenter’s first show with the band is expected to be their May 23rd tour opener at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Arena. As you can see in the promo photo up above, he’s already got his Gunners-approved kickdrum skin ready.
