Brent Hinds may not be in Mastodon anymore, but that doesn’t mean he’s not staying busy with music. Quite the opposite. Last Friday (March 21st), he hit the stage with his rootsy psychobilly band Fiend Without a Face, and he’ll soon be mounting an Atlanta, Georgia-area concert featuring that band and two other projects of his.
Billed as “a whole evening of Bhinds,” the recently announced concert takes place at Atlanta’s Garden Club at Wild Heaven West End on April 18, and it’s being headlined by bluesy collective West End Motel, which the guitarist has played with for years. Also appearing will be the aforementioned Fiend Without a Face and Dirty B & The Boys, another project of Hinds’.

As previously reported, the remaining members of Mastodon issued a statement on March 7th that they’d split with Hinds “after 25 monumental years together,” with guitarist Bill Kelliher later noting to Guitar World that it had been a “fun, wild fucking ride” with Hinds, though “it was just time” for the latter to leave the lineup.
Mastodon recently performed at the TOOL Live in the Sand festival in Punta Cana, Puerto Rico with YouTube guitarist Ben Eller in the lineup for the night, though his future with the project is unclear.
Kelliher also noted that an in-the-works follow-up to 2021’s Hushed & Grim will not feature any guitar performances from Hinds.
