Though Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu officially went on a hiatus from Korn back in 2021, the iconic nu-metal bassist has revealed that he actually hasn’t spoken with his bandmates since 2019.
As previously reported, the longtime bassist had departed Korn a few years back to deal with “personal issues” into order to get the “bad habits out of [his] system.” In 2022, guitarist Brian “Head” Welch has said the band were going to get together with Fieldy to see “where his head is at,” but a new interview with the latter suggests they haven’t really been in touch.
Speaking with the Basement Talk podcast [via the PRP], Fieldy noted: “I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019. We just kinda both…. They’re truckin’. They’re a machine, they’re going. It’s insane. It’s dope that they can keep on going like that.”
When Fieldy was asked whether it was still “all love” between he and the rest of Korn, he reiterated that it’s “cool to see them keep on going.” Nevertheless, Fieldy remains listed as an official member of the band; Ra Díaz has filled in on rhythms in-concert since the hiatus began.
The interview likewise touched on plans with Fieldy’s Stillwell project, who are apparently in rebuild-mode at the moment. The group, which also includes P.O.D. drummer Noah “Wuv” Benardo and vocalist/guitarist Q-Unique, are currently working as a quintet.
A follow-up to Stillwell’s 2022 release Rock the House has not been announced, but Fieldy noted the music is “gonna be heavier.”
