Evanescence have unveiled their first magnetic single of 2026, a dark-swaying anthem called “Who Will You Follow.”
The nu-rock icons delivered the song to streamers today (April 10th), after having teased its arrival earlier this month through socials that featured an animated clip of birds and waves, set to a piano melody and an effects-soaked question from vocalist Amy Lee: “When all your faith in reality fades away, who will you follow?”
Now, you can sample the song’s full array of drama-coursing chord changes, hard-heaving gravitas and emotions-cascading moments from vocal powerhouse Lee.
The song was produced by Zakk Cervini (Bad Omens, YUNGBLD, Spiritbox) and Jordan Fish (Bring Me The Horizon, Poppy, House of Protection, Architects) — the latter having also collaborated with Lee last year on her “End of You” single with Poppy and Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante.
The “Who Will You Follow” single arrives at the same time as an official album announcement. The band’s Sanctuary is set to be released June 5th via Sony Music / Columbia. The 12-song collection, which follows 2021’s The Bitter Truth, also features Evanescence’s 2025 single “Afterlife.”
“This album is over three years in the making, and finally listening back to it all at once, about to release it to the world, I am so damn proud of every second of it,” Lee said in a statement.
“It’s overwhelming,” she continued. “Working on it has been my outlet for so much that feels wrong and out of control, and a place to ignite hope through the power of music and connection… good thing we have the tour all lined up or I wouldn’t know what to do with myself now! I’ve been completely obsessed. I’m dying for the fans to hear this.”
Lee had explained late last year in an interview with Rolling Stone that much of the music had been completed by that time, though the frontwoman was still putting some lyrics in place. She also said that the album could be “an opportunity to put something good into the world.”
As previously reported, Evanescence are mounting a world tour this year, starting with a round of touring alongside openers Spiritbox and Nova Twins in June. A European leg of dates with Poppy take place later in the year.
