Progressive giants Dream Theater are keeping their 40th anniversary celebrations going into 2025, with the beloved group having just announced that they’ll be complementing their upcoming run of fall European dates with a North American run early next year.
The band confirmed today (September 10th) that the extra leg of their “An Evening With Dream Theater” tour takes off next February. The tour marks the second round of dates since the return of iconic drum virtuoso Mike Portnoy to the lineup, which also includes vocalist James LaBrie, bassist John Myung, guitarist John Petrucci, and keyboardist Jordan Rudess.
Per Dream Theater, the fan fervor surrounding the European tour announcement earlier in the year was a chief instigator for the U.S. and Canadian dates.
“The excitement we have felt from the fans since the first tour was announced has been overwhelming,” they explained in a joint statement. “Now we get to bring the show to our home country and play a bunch of cities that we haven’t been together in for more than a decade. We can’t wait to continue this historic celebration of 40 years together with everyone in North America next year.”
The band likewise added that they “still have plenty of more exciting Dream Theater news to share in the coming weeks,” though not much has been teased beyond that.
The North American leg of the anniversary tour begins February 7th at the Met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and concludes March 22nd at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. Tickets go on sale this Friday (September 13th).
