DIMMU BORGIR announce first North American tour in 8 years

Norwegian extreme-metal mainstays Dimmu Borgir have announced they’re heading to North America this summer to support their forthcoming Grand Serpent Rising album.

Dimmu delivered the details on the tour earlier today (April 13th), confirming that a short, nine-date trek will hit both coasts in August, and likewise include one Canadian date in Toronto, Ontario. This all begins August 7th at NYC’s Palladium Times Square. This will be the first time the act have performed in the U.S. since 2018.

Throughout, they’ll be supported by Swedish melodeth unit Hypocrisy, New York death-metal veterans Suffocation and Washington State black-metal troupe Hulder.

As previously reported, the upcoming Grand Serpent Rising purportedly “carries echoes of every chapter of Dimmu Borgir’s legacy.” It was recorded with producer Fredrik Nordström (At the Gates, Arch Enemy) at his Studio Fredman in Sweden, and was teased last month via the  unveiling of their “Ulvgjeld & Blodsodel” single.

The album is out May 22nd via Nuclear Blast, though an exclusive pre-order for Grand Serpent Rising on “Gold with Black Marbled” vinyl is up in Revolver’s shop, along with other vinyl variants and CD copies.
