Last night (August 1st), Deftones played an intimate show at Chicago’s 1,100-capacity Metro, a warm-up show for their appearance at Lollapalooza on Saturday. The gig was announced just two-days before and unsurprisingly sold out instantly.
Fleshwater — featuring Vein.fm’s Anthony DiDio, Jeremy Martin, and Matt Wood, plus MIRSY’s Marisa Shirar — opened, but the night belonged to Deftones, who tore through a career-spanning 17-song set, including their first performance of White Pony standout “Passenger” in five years.

In addition to their Lollapalooza set, Deftones also have a big Golden Gate Park show with System of a Down in August, and they recently announced their 2024 Dia De Los Deftones festival, which is set for San Diego in November with IDLES, Sunny Day Real Estate (performing Diary in full), HEALTH, Paris Texas, Duster, Gel and Qendresa.
