Last night (November 1st), Deftones drove not-so-quietly into a setlist of big hits, deep cuts and live debuts for the headlining set of their sixth annual Dia De Los Deftones.
As in years past, the festival took place at San Diego, California’s Petco Park, and the Deftones’ handpicked the lineup, which, for 2025, included Clipse, 2hollis, Deafheaven, Rico Nasty, Ecca Vandal and more to provide opening sets. But of course, the biggest draw for the event was the hosts themselves, and damned if they didn’t deliver across their 21-song performance.
Previous installments of Dia De Los Deftones found the band mixing their most-well-known songs with a smattering of rarities and even live debuts. This time, with their new album, private music, still fresh, Chino Moreno and Co. leaned heavily into the latter, playing the LP’s “locked club,” “souvenir,” “cut hands” and “i think about you all the time” for the first times. The band also performed White Pony’s “Street Carp” for the first time since 2019.
