Following some online teasing earlier in the month, Deftones have officially confirmed that they’re heading back to San Diego to host their fifth “Dia De Los Deftones” festival. The band return to the city’s outdoor Petco Park on November 2nd, and this year they’ll be joined by HEALTH, GEL, IDLES, Sunny Day Real Estate and more.
The fest founders previewed this latest instalment in a video post over socials last week, which displayed a “5” hovering through the clouds. The post likewise included live footage of Chino Moreno and Co., and was scored by Ohms’ moody banger “Genesis.” The post was captioned: “SD 🦋 DDLD 🦋 2024,” and while some folks joked online that this could have been connecting Deftones to the forthcoming fifth Shrek film, other fans quickly clued into the fact that a fest announcement was on the way.
The official roster for the night includes sprechesangin’ U.K. post-punks IDLES, Sunny Day Real Estate performing their legendary Diary LP in full, industrial-damaged trio HEALTH and U.S. hardcore force GEL, along with Paris Texas, Duster and Qendresa
Pre-sales go live tomorrow (July 24th), while general ticket sales are up on Friday (July 26th).
The next Dia De Los Deftones festival is, of course, not the only outdoor concert on the books for Deftones this year. They also have a co-headlining appearance with System of a Down booked at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on August 17th, which will also include opening sets from the Mars Volta, Viagra Boys and VOWWS.
