Following a rare pair of reunion shows earlier this year, cult post-hardcore popsmiths Shudder to Think have announced their first U.S. tour in close to 20 years.
The act confirmed today (August 19th) that they will be heading out on the road throughout the fall, kicking things off with a two-set stand in Chicago on September 19th — they’ll be hitting Douglass Park earlier in the day for Riot Fest, and then make their way to the Cobra Lounge for a late show.
Shudder to Think’s nine-show run also features an Eastern leg that hits Boston, New York and their native Washington, D.C., while a West Coast portion also hits Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and L.A. Outside of a few one-offs, the trip will be Shudder to Think’s first tour in 17 years.
Back in March, Shudder to Think regrouped to deliver a pair of sets at Los Angeles’ Permanent Records Roadhouse, which marked their first live performances since 2013. Those appearances mostly focused on cuts from 1994’s progressively post-hardcore-expanding Pony Express Record, though, per setlist.fm, the band also debuted a new tune called “Playback.”

Shudder to Think’s last full-length album was 1997’s 50,000 B.C., though vocalist-guitarist Craig Wedren and guitarist Nathan Larsen have steadily worked on film and TV scores since the late Nineties — the former racking up music credits on Yellowjackets, Wet Hot American Summer, The School Of Rock, Laurel Canyon and more, while the latter had a hand in Our Idiot Brother, The Skeleton Twins, Juliet, Naked and the High Fidelity TV series.
