Just a week ahead of Valentine’s Day, Wisconsin metalcore outfit Archers are taking stock of toxic relationships on their new single, “Never Enough.”
The new song arrives just as Archers head out on the road with Austin, Texas, rockers Catch Your Breath. Like Archers’ other recent works, the band take the tune through alternating waves of pop and metal sounds, heading from crushed-violet melodic chord-scaping and R&B-inflected vocal runs towards heavy screams.
Thematically, the track hints at a severely fractured relationship, emotional fight nights influenced by hate and Hennessy, and losing your sense of self (“Am I lovesick or sick of the love?”).
“‘Never Enough’ is a story too many of us are familiar with — the chemistry between two people who aren’t good for each other,” the band explained in a joint statement. “These relationships are addictive by nature, and oftentimes toxic, resulting in conflict both internal and external.”
They add: “‘Never Enough’ addresses the uncomfortable side of this kind of relationship, acknowledging the ‘temporary high’ of lapsing into toxicity. Because although there’s conflict and you might know it’s unhealthy, breaking the bonds for good is a lot harder than dealing with the familiarities with the thing you’ve come to know.”
You can check out the brand-new Archers track up above, via SBG Records, while the band reveal that an EP release is likewise on the docket for later in 2025. The group issued the Drag Me Out EP and a pair of standalone singles in 2024.
