Here at Revolver, we’re always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it’s a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in metalcore, fairy doom, deathcore and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ.

Bodyweb – “deadwire”
Leeds, UK, nu-core crew Bodyweb launched their partnership with heavy-hitting hardcore label Flatspot Records this week, and they’ve gone groovy and ultra-personal with their new EP’s first single, “deadwire.”
The speaker-crevassing cut hits big between its ‘Knotty chromatic riffs, tear-glazed chorus melodies and more modern hardcore breakdown. Lyrically, frontman Louis Hardy (who doubles as Higher Power’s guitarist) explores deep family drama with a reedy howl, a scarred-soul croon and one especially viscerally uncomfortable allusion to someone groping inside his skull.
Faetooth – “Hole”
L.A. “fairy-doom” originators Faetooth pull themselves out of the darkness to surge through an open and exposed sludginess on this latest jaw-dropping Labyrinthine preview, “Hole.”
The song, a profound meditation on confronting and overcoming your past, lurches through varying orange-glare bursts of detuned melancholy, with the band matching those tones with impassioned whispers and primal scream catharsis.
As this goes on, the music video finds a woman being moved by a serious emotional reckoning, each graceful sway conjuring a million different feelings. Kind of like the flow of this epic, heart-swelling crusher.
Hatebreed – “Make the Demons Obey”
“Mercy dies where hatred breeds”
Hatebreed have unleashed their first new song in five years, and sure enough, “Make the Demons Obey” is mercilessly beating and heavy as hell.
The brimstone-gnashing thrash attack unloads an arsenal of grotesquely trilled metalcore licks and jackhammered snares, while Jamey Jasta spouts off on how he’s flashing a hateful smile towards the “polished frauds, plastic saints and paper gods” in our midst. And he’s looking to break them down — one by one.
Holy Wars – “Crucify”
Holy Wars singer Kat Leon is determined to “sweat these demons out” on “Crucify.” It probably helps that the rest of the L.A. based metalcore group are turning up the heat throughout.
The band’s “dark anthem for the scorned” initially simmers through a trap-beated, half-whisper-rapped intro, but their song about shame, betrayal and self-sabotaging romanticism eventually torches the mix with heavy-djented aplomb. Perhaps most memorably, its screeching bridge breakdown makes the guitars sound like a choir of teakettles begging for you to start the pour.
PSYCHO-FRAME – “INVERTED SPEAR OF HEAVEN”
PSYCHO-FRAME just delivered a most uncompromising deathcore release with their SALVATION LAUGHS IN THE FACE OF A GRIEVING MOTHER, and even within that, “Inverted Spear of Heaven” stands as one of its most punishing tracks.
A lot of this has to do with the ungodly blast-to-bounce precision of drummer Leo McLain, an absolute menace on the kit, day-in day-out. But PSYCHO-FRAME collectively go wild on the cut with flesh-rending riffage and tandem screams.
Paraphrasing their bestial growls, you might not survive the onslaught. But, damn, giving this a stream is worth the risk — it’s time you “endure the pain.”
Silent Planet – “Wick”
The first new tune from Silent Planet since they delivered this spring’s collaborative EP with Invent Animate, Bloom in Heaven, “Wick” initially rips into a twitchy beat and effects-fizzing riffs before pivoting through industrialized breakbeats, moody modern metal heaviness and a micro-blast finale.
Vocalist Garrett Russell, meanwhile, delivers beastly screams and shadowy Deftones-esque whispers as he relays a grim narrative set against the Black Sea.
It’s a wild ride, but especially worth the trip since Silent Planet will be donating the Bandcamp proceeds from the charity single to Return to Childhood, an organization striving to “give Ukrainian children a childhood and education despite the ongoing Russian invasion.”
