Here at Revolver, we’re always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it’s a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in emo/death-metal crossover, dogged deathcore, teen punk and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ.

Frozen Soul – “No Place of Warmth” feat. Gerard Way
Part of the thrill of Frozen Soul’s new collab with My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way is just how unexpected it is to find Texas’ most cold-blooded death-metal band teaming up with the often heart-melting emo-punk icon. Beyond the initial shock of it all, “No Place of Warmth” is also just a rock-solid beast of a song.
Offering “no mercy, no peace,” Frozen Soul unfurl grievous grooves, burly licks and the ominous dong of a requiem bell. Though vocalist Chad Green power-howls about overcoming adversity and finding warmth in this cold, cold world, Way screeches out his supporting back-ups with spine-chilling dexterity.
KANINE – “SHARP TEETH”
French deathcore crew KANINE bear it all on “SHARP TEETH,” a song bound to tear you a new one.
Slam-driven rhythms come spiked with micro-blasts, while the detuned, dummy-mode guitar riffs go extra ignorant. Jason Gerhard’s multi-lingually low-browed brees and gutturals lay out a series of threats and curse words in French and English — putain de merde, indeed!
The lighthearted vid finds the singer kidnapping his dork-ass bandmates — a bunch of Pokémon card collectors and Twitch streamers — so they can mount a screen-shaking performance of the single.
Terror – “Still Suffer”
“It keeps calling me back until I give in.”
Scott Vogel shouts of rage, shame and “the price of pain” across “Still Suffer,” the first preview of Terror’s impending album of the same name. While he admits to despairing and feeling lost sometimes, there’s no doubt something cathartic about primal screaming that suffering away with likeminded folk at a hardcore show — that’s probably a big part of why he’s been at it with several bands over a 30-year-plus career.
The rest of Terror lean into a tough, yet hummable anthem, the kind of groove that’ll find old heads and young punks alike headwalking across the pit to scream along with Vogel.
Wage War – “SONG OF THE SWAMP”
“Chomp chomp.”
Wage War have suggested things are only going to get heavier on their upcoming It Calls Me by Name EP. Based off the meaty mosh riffs and biting attack of bog-crawling first single “SONG OF THE SWAMP,” we’re ready to scarf it down ravenously like a gator ending a hunger strike.
The band have said that the song, along with the rest of the impending EP, was inspired by their Floridian surroundings. A song positively sopping in earth-sodden rage, you’re bound to get trench foot stomping around to the sound of this “SWAMP.”
XCOMM – “Hot Pursuit”
“XCOMM is coming for your life.”
In most cases, if a teenager starts screaming about how he’s coming at us with a knife, we are turning tail ASAP and getting the fuck away from them. In the case of violent, talk-shit-get-hit approach XCOMM take in their latest high-speed missive, “Hot Pursuit,” we’re going to cut the kids some slack and stick around at least a few seconds longer.
Vocalist Michael Gatto is red-eyed while walking a razor’s edge. The rest of the band — including drummer Revel Ian, a.k.a. Scott Ian’s son — deliver no-nonsense, decidedly old-school fury. It’s a killer combo.
Rob Zombie – “F.T.W. 84”
As the lead-off track on Rob Zombie’s newly-dropped The Great Satan, “F.T.W. 84” outlines the veteran shock rocker’s “goddamn philosophy of infinite soul and madness” in suitably heavy fashion.
Industrial-metal drum damage collides with the blunt-force riffage of Hellbilly all stars Blasko and Riggs. Zombie takes a feverish, Orwellian nosedive into the griminess of the Sunset Strip, finding himself chastising the “rat bastards of Hollywood” and contemplating the unending war that is modern life.
