Here at Revolver, we’re always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it’s a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in Black Ops metal, apocalyptic synthwave, progressive tech-death and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ.

Avenged Sevenfold – “Magic”
It’s been 30 long months since Avenged Sevenfold released their last full-length opus, Life Is But a Dream…, so fans worldwide rejoiced this morning when they woke up to this standalone single for the Call of Duty franchise’s latest Black Ops 7 Season 01 update.
A7X game the system with brooding melodies, a punk-slammed rumble of drums, and a wild-and-wonky AutoTune section that sounds as if M. Shadows’ old C.O.D. playable sprite tracked vocals while vortexing through the war game’s binary code.
Devoted Deathbats, it’s your duty to crank this one up post-haste.
Carpenter Brut – “Leather Temple”
French Leather daddy Carpenter Brut is about to tan our hides with another metal, EDM and retro-synth-phonic full-length, which he’s previewing with the post-apocalyptic pulse of lead single “Leather Temple.”
Built upon a foundation of jack-hammered industrial beats, magenta-luminescent key swells and a downward-spiraling set of power chords, “Leather Temple” kicks into the darkness like Nine Inch Nails and Daft Punk soundtracking the end of the world.
In other words, the electronic headbanger hasn’t lost his French touch.
Moodring – “Cannibal”
“How violent do I need to get?”
This is the wild rhetorical Moodring leader (and Psycho-Frame member) Hunter Young poses in the chorus hook of his latest hurt-seeking missive. Elsewhere in the cut, he suggests that getting curb-stomped might not be so bad, and that he’s hungry for a meal plan of Russian rouletted-lead and Newports. This is all to say, he’s in an extreme mood these days, and ready to feel the pain.
The depressive nu-core swing of the piece punctures the speakers with an insatiable, inescapable bleakness, yet we’re eating up all “Cannibal” has to offer.
Poppy – “Guardian”
“I’ll give you all that I have left.”
“Guardian” isn’t the most scream-centric Empty Hands single thus far, but that’s not to say Poppy doesn’t put on a hell of a powerful performance.
The illuminating nu-rock anthem has Poppy suggesting that liars, cowards and villains are taunting us in whispers, lurking in the shadows just desperate to pull us into the void. As our protector, she puts her chest into a round of booming vocal melodies, which she and producer Jordan Fish have adorned with powerfully chunk-forward guitar tones and heavy, head-bobbing grooves.
Unburier – “Survive the Vermin”
Though we’re anxiously awaiting the 2026 release of UK death-metal tacticians Unburier’s next LP — funnily enough, titled As Time Awaits — we’re also hanging onto dear life while streaming the staggering savagery of new single “Survive the Vermin.”
The band themselves explained that the multi-chambered epic is about “an immortal warrior grappling with the cost of surrendering flesh for steel.” They go to battle with a series of jarring tempo pivots, intensely septic guitarmonies, and bubonic bass slides.
The Zenith Passage – “Fleshbound Reliquary”
While the Zenith Passage’s Derek Rydquist growls of being “born into a carniformed abomination,” peak human perfection is the name of the game in this progressively-twisted monster of a track.
The crisp, clean and compressed string trills are eerily tight. Drummer Maximillian Sepulveda brings the heat with his double-kick attack. A soulful but speed-quaked guitar solo bleeds into a precision blasting.
Things get extra moody once a dread-stirring wash of synths begin blanketing the face-melting finale.
