Here at Revolver, we’re always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it’s a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in thrash, deathcore, metalcore and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ.

156/Silence – “Our Parting Ways”
“Death isn’t release from the memory.”
It has been an incredibly tough year for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, metalcore act 156/Silence, who suffered the unexpected loss of their bassist, Lukas Booker, in the spring. “Our Parting Ways” is the band’s first release since his passing, and it likewise follows 2024’s crushing People Watching LP.
An epic packed in under four minutes, it parts the seas with an early section full of derelict feedback and furious grooves, and then drives things home with a prismatic display of darkened melody and pensive, heart-pained and reflective crooning.
Cage Fight – “Pig”
“You messaged the wrong person.”
Cage Fight apparently have a ton of anonymous creeps coming at them in their comments and DMs, so this is the London, UK, metal quartet’s ruthless takedown on all the men bringing the ick with “filthy tricks” and unsolicited dick pics.
“Pig” is a beastly beatdown propelled by an understandably enraged performance from vocalist Rachel Aspe. Keeping on theme, guitarist James Monteith (also of TesseracT) really knows how to make his guitar squeal during the back-end mosh.
Cavalera Conspiracy – “Piledriver”
The Cavaleras came out swinging hard this week in support of the classically bearded and now monstrously mech-suited Street Fighter grappler Zangief. Their “Piledriver” — prepped for the updated sixth edition of Capcom’s long-running fighting-game series — is a battle anthem crafted on behalf of the Red Cyclone, and it bashes the skull with venomous moshes, thrash-mangled speediness and the all-bite fury of vocalist-guitarist Max Cavalera.
While we might’ve assumed the Brazilian family band would have crafted a song for their fellow countryman, the beastly Blanka, “Piledriver” delivers an electric charge all the same.
Despised Icon – “The Apparition”
Don’t look the other way — take in every disgusting detail of Despised Icon’s “The Apparition.”
The latest preview of the Canadian deathcore group’s long-awaited comeback LP, Shadow Work, is an outstandingly aggressive statement of harrowingly blackened guitar trilling, warp-speed blasts and chest-stomping breakdowns. Just the way we like it.
Alex Erian and Steve Marois bree and bark their way above the bedlam with the heavy mission statement they’ve held for decades: “We cannot be tamed.”
Excide – “Call Box”
Excide are calling, and we’re accepting the charges.
The South Carolina post-hardcore outfit’s latest single behind their upcoming Bastard Hymns album pops, grooves and wah-wahs like the bastard child of Orange 9mm and Snapcase, albeit while also showcasing Tyler Washington’s smoother, Chino Moreno-esque vocal melodicism.
He sings of hitting the “lowest low,” but this tune cements Hymns as a highly anticipated release.
Hounds of War – “Reaper on Speed Dial”
Hounds of War clearly don’t fear the Reaper — per their latest brutalizing hardcore single, they keep the cloaked one at the top of their contacts list. And just like that Grim figure, their new song absolutely kills.
The New York City unit pummel through a series of decelerating stomp-outs and rattle the speakers with woofer-slashing white noise. Lyrically, they’re ready to send rats, snitches and “fake fucks” to the hangman.
All told, it’s an enigmatically concussive tease of their forthcoming split with PeelingFlesh.
