X JAPAN bandleader, celebrated composer and fashion icon YOSHIKI has undergone his third neck surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The cervical artificial disc replacement was necessitated after multiple medical evaluations due to severe neck pain and the nerve damage on his left hand.
Despite his condition, YOSHIKI recently completed a sold-out series of concerts in Tokyo, Japan, spoke at Dreamforce 2024 in San Francisco, performed at the Global Citizen Award ceremony in New York, and debuted his high fashion brand, MAISON YOSHIKI PARIS, at Paris Fashion Week.
“I woke up. My doctors said my third neck surgery was successful,” YOSHIKI told fans after the procedure. “Thank you so much everyone for your support.”
The X JAPAN bandleader was diagnosed with cervical foraminal stenosis, leading to a cervical laminectomy and a cervical foraminotomy, back in 2009. Six years later, he underwent his second surgery — involving the insertion of an artificial cervical disc in his neck — due to a herniated disc and severe paralysis of his left hand and arm.
YOSHIKI’s recovery from his latest surgery will be closely monitored by his medical team, with expectations for a gradual return to performance activities.
