It’s time to sink your teeth into a new We Came as Romans song.
Just a couple weeks ahead of the veteran outfit’s “Bad Luck 2025 World Tour,” WCAR have unveiled a single titled “culture wound” that arrives along with the official announcement of their next album: ALL IS BEAUTIFUL… BECAUSE WE’RE DOOMED.
A press release explains that “culture wound” explores “the battle between our best and worst impulses,” and likewise ponders whether we are “inherently good or inherently bad.” Aesthetically, the group do this whilst battering the speakers with inverted-bend walkdowns, juggernaut drum hits, bleak but oddly uplifting melodies and a round of screams around the nature vs. nature argument.
“‘culture wound’ is about taking a look inside and deciding which side of yourself is going to control your life,” the band explain in a joint statement. “This song was written to question our human nature – is it inherently good or inherently selfish? Are we here to try and make something better for everyone or just survive for ourselves?”
They added: “All of the different ‘sides of ourselves’ that we’ve discovered, struggled with, or left behind is really what this album is about, and our journey through all of those experiences is written in every song.”

While WCAR just announced the LP, ALL IS BEAUTIFUL… BECAUSE WE’RE DOOMED will also feature recent singles “bad luck” and “no rest for the dreamer.” The 12-song follow-up to 2022’s Darkbloom is said to revolve around “philosophical notions of death and rebirth.” The album is also apparently structured in ouroboros fashion, “looping seamlessly from end to beginning.”
The album is out August 22 via Sharptone Records, but an exclusive vinyl variant on “Light Rose/Violet”-colored wax , limited to 500 copies, is up for pre-order now in Revolver’s shop.
As previously reported, WCAR launch their “Bad Luck” tour begins July 22nd at Toronto, Ontario’s Rebel venue before crossing the border for a few weeks of shows in the U.S. You’ll find more tour details here.
