Wage War are using the emergency broadcast system to announce their next album. The Floridian metalcore veterans confirm that they’re bringing more songs out of the swamp this fall, and they’re teasing their upcoming Landfall album with the pummeling title cut.
The new song puts you on guard up front with a high-pitched emergency broadcast drone. The intro builds with a bit of a tempo psych-out, twitching itself through a firy drum-and-bass sample before lunging into more mosh-pummeled rhythms.
Above a series of rubble-tossing metal riffs, lead screamer Briton Bond forewarns of apocalyptic times ahead where “all life becomes extinct”. Guitarist Cody Quistad brings his more traditionally melodic mewl to the chorus, but the song goes out in catastrophic fashion.
The band explain that the single is about “imminent danger and the realization that we aren’t in control.”
“Referencing our Florida roots, the hurricane imagery became a way of talking about that feeling of being completely at the mercy of something bigger than yourself,” the act continue in a joint statement. “Musically, we wanted the verses to feel heavy and threatening, with the chorus being somber and inevitable.”

The 11-song Landfall follows this spring’s IT CALLS ME BY NAME EP, and features both “Song of the Swamp” and “Blindfold” from that release. It will also be Wage War’s first full-length release since 2024’s STIGMA.
