The hardcore community is rallying together for an upcoming benefit concert supporting Sick of It All vocalist Lou Koller’s ongoing battle with esophageal cancer. Featuring sets from Vision of Disorder, Life of Agony, Municipal Waste and more, the “I’m in the fight with Lou” concert takes place November 23rd at New York City’s famed Irving Plaza.
Sick of It All announced the benefit show this morning (September 10th), confirming that the concert will likewise feature performances from veteran NYHC acts Killing Time and Crown of Thornz. Notably, this will be the first VOD show since 2018.
The concert intends to raise funds for ailing SOIA frontman Koller, who had revealed in the summer that doctors found a tumor that had grown from his esophagus into his stomach. The discovery led the band to cancel a European tour, and put any SOIA plans on pause. He’s been receiving treatment in the months since.
“I’ll have to be getting treatment all summer,” Koller explained at the time. “And of course, full support of the band, as soon as they heard it they were like, ‘Forget the tour, just get healthy.’”
Tickets go on-sale this Friday (September 13th). Proceeds will go towards supporting Koller and the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a non-profit organization that helps musicians and music industry workers in need.
