Touché Amoré are set to twist back our way with their first full-length release in four years. The California post-hardcore group place their Spiral in a Straight Line in our orbit October 11th through their new label home, Rise Records, and the emotional heavyweights are previewing the release with a new single called “Nobody’s.”
A press release explains that the band once again hit the studio with iconic record producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot, Sepultura) to make their sixth studio full-length, which follows 2020’s Lament. Thematically, its album-opening first single is said to be “rooted in life-altering changes and the turmoil of moving forward while grappling with what’s been left behind,” this referencing the record’s titular spiraling.
Vocalist Jeremy Bolm added of the melody-charged post-hardcore song, which you can check out up above in the studio-set music video: “In just a handful of lyrics, it gives the broad strokes of the album. A song and record about forward movement while everything around you becomes destabilized.”
As for the rest of the record, Spiral in a Straight Line also features guest appearances from indie-rocker and boygenius member Julien Baker (“Goodbye for Now”) and prolific Sebadoh/Dinosaur Jr. musician Lou Barlow (“Subversion (Brand New Low)”).
Despite the record’s thematic destabilization, Touché Amoré have also firmed up a fall North American tour with their friends in Philly hardcore group Soul Glo, black-metal faction Portrayal of Guilt and West Coast dream-pop outfit Soft Blue Shimmer.
