Following a Brady Bunch-ish teaser rollout on Ipecac Records’ Instagram page, weird-rock supergroup Tomahawk have announced they’re getting back on the road for their first tour since 2013 — and they’re bringing the Melvins with them.
Today (February 23rd), Tomahawk — which features vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), guitarist Duane Denison (the Jesus Lizard), bassist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) and drummer John Stanier (Helmet, Battles ) — confirmed a month-long stretch of U.S. concert dates to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band.
The “A Huge Waste of Your Time and Money” tour kicks off July 18th at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee, then heads east, and then closes things out on the west coast. The final show is August 15th at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, California.
Tomahawk’s last live shows were in 2013, supporting that year’s Oddfellows LP. They’d issued their Tonic Immobility album in 2021, but did not support the release due to Covid measures. The upcoming trip likewise marks the first time Tomahawk have toured with Melvins since 2003.
“In the spirit of the Olympics, Team Tomahawk has decided to rise up and go for the gold once again – also competing will be our cohorts the Melvins,” Denison explained in a press release.
Melvins’ Buzz Osborne added: “This tour is a no brainer. I can’t wait. A Melvins/Tomahawk trek will be a stone groove.”
A pre-sale for all dates begins on Wednesday (February 25th), while the general on-sale is live by Friday (February 27th). You’ll find the date details below.
