Pretty Reckless fans, your prayers have been answered: Taylor Momsen has formally confirmed that her rock band’s next album is out this summer. Dubbed Dear God, the group’s fifth album is being previewed via its fist-raising new single, “When I Wake Up”.
Momsen teased the track over socials earlier this week, noting that the track marks “the dawn of a new era.” A press release adds that Dear God, as a whole, “embraces vulnerability, intensity and artistic freedom.” “When I Wake Up” manifests this as a power chord-forward blast of punky, melodic energy, paired with another of Momsen’s full-powered, raspy-intensified, take-it-to-the-limit vocal attack.
The artist explained in a statement that the song is “the story of a dream becoming a nightmare,” and is likewise about “when a life of excess leads you on a rollercoaster that is doomed to crash but you just can’t see it.”
Dear God follows the Pretty Reckless’ 2021 album Death by Rock and Roll. The new record also features “For I Am Death,” the dark-rocking single Momsen and the Pretty Reckless served up last summer. Dear God is out June 26th via Fearless Records, and an exclusive, limited-edition “Tan Smoke” vinyl variant is available for pre-order at Revolver’s shop.
As previously reported, The Pretty Reckless are set to once again team up with AC/DC for another leg of the Aussie icons’ “Power Up” tour. The next North American run begins July 11th at Charlotte, North Carolina’s Bank of America Stadium. Momsen and Co. have also set up a number of headlining club dates in the U.S. and Canada around those AC/DC shows.
Pre-sales for the new headlining dates begin March 17th at 10 a.m. local, and general on-sales go live on March 20th.
