While the Number Twelve Looks Like You haven’t released an LP since 2019, the New Jersey outfit have revealed that they’re scoring vocalist Jesse Korman’s upcoming horror film, Yellow Eyes, with last year’s “Eyes on the Fireworks” single and a new tune titled “Indeciso.” Ahead of the movie’s release, they’ve teamed with Revolver to premiere the latter cut along with its cinematic music video.
The track sizzles with a fervent, explosive energy that leans into the progressive and post-hardcore tendencies of the veteran act’s sound. Korman offers up some vocal musings about feeling older and wiser, while the band’s Mars Volta-ish dynamism — replete with propulsively panicked drums and wah-wah-cruising guitar mania — suggests the Number Twelve Looks Like You are getting funkier the further they progress, too.
According to Korman, the song speaks to the feeling of being “stuck in an endless loop of indecision,” and the worry that “you’ll die before making a choice.”
“‘Indeciso’ is about that relentless push and pull within yourself, like being possessed by two opposing forces that both demand control,” he explains. “It’s the chaos of wanting to move forward but not knowing which part of you to follow.” He later sings of a major breakthrough in the song: “The only way to get somewhere is to leave something behind”
As for the video — which was shot in Phoenix, Arizona, last summer with director Kyle Laurin — it’s a visual smorgasbord of vibrant color-grading, trunk kidnappings, lipstick-smearing choreography routines, performance footage and more, all done in service of presenting the “dance between our selves.”
