The mad parade continues: o.g. punks Sex Pistols have just announced their first North American tour in over 20 years, and it will feature Rattlesnakes vocalist Frank Carter on the mic.
The band’s current incarnation of Carter and classic lineup members Steve Jones (guitar), Glen Matlock (bass) and Paul Cook (drums) announced the trip today (March 28th), with the 12-show trip marking the first time the Pistols have hit U.S. stages since 2003.
It all begins September 16th at Dallas, Texas’ Longhorn Ballroom, a venue the band had hit during their infamous 1978 tour of the U.S. — a limited edition record called Live in the U.S.A. chronicling that particular trip was released on vinyl today, and can be ordered over here.
The upcoming tour proceeds to head East and briefly up into Canada, but then the Pistols ricochet back out West for a tour closer at Los Angeles, California’s Hollywood Palladium on October 16th. Seems like a missed opportunity to not close it out in San Francisco, but what do we know?
As previously reported, the Johnny Rotten-less Pistols first performed together last summer at a charity gig in London, with Carter subbing in for the band’s original vocalist. They’ve become more active of late, as they’ll also be touring overseas with Guns N’ Roses this spring.
As for the U.S. trip, various pre-sales will be up and running between April 1st-3rd, while general on-sales begin April 4th. More ticketing info can be found here, while the U.S. tour route is down below.
