See Tom Morello Try to Recount the History of Heavy Metal in 60 Seconds

By now, you should have watched Metal Lords on Netflix already. If you haven’t, get to it — it tells the funny, coming-of-age story about the drama that ensues in a high-school metal band, and Rob Halford, Kirk Hammett, Scott Ian and Tom Morello make cameos. D.B. Weiss — a.k.a. one of the dudes behind HBO’s smash Game of Thrones adaptation, and a legit metalhead who got did all he could to make GoT as metal as possible — wrote and co-produced the flick with Peter Sollett (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) in the director’s chair and Morello tapped as Executive Music Producer.

Now, Morello has dropped a fun promo for the movie that sees the Rage Against the Machine guitarist giving a minute-long crash course through the history of heavy metal. A mere 60 seconds is, of course, way too brief a span to really cover metal’s twisted journey from Black Sabbath’s evil tritones to 2022’s chaosphere of sprawling subgenres, but Morello gives it his best shot.
