TOOL wrapped up their spring Latin American tour last night (March 30th) with a performance at Lollapalooza Brasil. The show was livestreamed for the global fanbase, but just in case you missed the alt-metal vets’ big show in Brazil, you can watch the whole thing now on YouTube.
The outdoor fest appearance took place at São Paulo, Brazil’s Autódromo de Interlagos, with TOOL having headlined the Palco Samsung Galaxy stage. The performance fell in between sets from alt-rock vets Bush and hometown groove/thrash royalty Sepultura over on Palco Mike’s Ice stage.
As for TOOL’s performance, in particular, the band hit an 11-song set that ran from Undertow favorites (“Flood” ) through to Lateralus classics (“Parabola,” “Schism”) and up into the group’s more modern, Fear Inoculum era. The band were also joined by former Crypta guitarist Jéssica di Falchi, who popped up early in the set to help perform 10,000 Days’ “Jambi.”
You can see how the show played out via the official livestream footage up above, though it all comes with a caveat: everything was filmed a great distance away from the stage. This was explained during the livestream, with it being noted, “At the request of the band Tool, the broadcast of this show is being done only with wide images.”
As previously reported, bassist Justin Chancellor explained in a recent interview that TOOL would be focusing on new material after wrapping this particular tour.
He’d told Summa Inferno that they were “gonna dedicate the next three months” to working on some exitsing song ideas in the recording studio. He added that TOOL have a “really good pile of stuff.”
TOOL’s last album was, of course, 2019’s Fear Inoculum.
