See Miley Cyrus’ Pink, Poppy Video for Nine Inch Nails “Head Like a Hole” Cover

As we reported last week, Miley Cyrus’ recent role in Netflix’s hit sci-fi series Black Mirror featured the singer performing a reworked poppy version of Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like a Hole.” Now today, June 13th, Netflix has unveiled Cyrus’ own video of the cover, which is retitled “On a Roll.”

The new video shows the singer sporting the pink-haired haired look of the Black Mirror character she portrays in “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too” — a famous pop-star/inspirational speaker for teen girls whose signature doll lives in the home (and becomes sentient) — and performing the NIN track in several neon-digital stages (and in a pink goo-filled bathtub) with support from a team of backup dancers.

Like the title, the original “Head Like a Hole” lyrics were tweaked for Cyrus’ version by Black Mirror series creator Charlie Brooker, who got Trent Reznor’s blessing to rework the NIN track to fit the scene. “He wanted to see the script and I got to re-write his lyrics in a chirpy way,” said Brooker. “I’m not the best lyricist in the world — in the first song she’s singing: ‘I’m stoked on ambition and verve’ instead of ‘You’re gonna get what you deserve’.”
