Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington passed away one year ago today, July 20th. In memory of their beloved frontman, the group have shared a bittersweet video compiling some of Bennington’s goofiest moments from the road. Culled from the Linkin Park TV archives, it captures nearly three minutes’ worth of antics going back over a decade. Highlights include Bennington vocalizing into a lemon, delivering spot-on impressions of cowboys, snooty musicians and grumpy old men, performing a passionate acoustic ode to unicorns, and more.
In addition to the touching clip, Linkin Park paid their respects to Bennington with a short statement. “It has been a year since your passing — a surreal rotation of grief, heartbreak, refusal, and recognition,” they wrote on Twitter today. “And yet it still feels like you are close by, surrounding us with your memory and your light. Your one-of-a-kind spirit has authored an indelible imprint on our hearts – our jokes, our joy, and our tenderness.” The previous day, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell honored the singer on his Instagram, writing in part: “There is so much that I feel, and that I could say, and that I would want to say, and that I don’t know how to say… but one thing I know for certain, is that you are loved, and you are missed.” Check out Farrell’s tribute below.
