Though Iron Maiden are more famously repping a different brand of footie, the great Bruce Dickinson showed his love for American-style football by singing the U.S. National Anthem at the Pittsburgh Steelers game over the weekend.
The metal singer hit the “Star-Spangled Banner” at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Acrisure Stadium, just ahead of yesterday’s (September 14th) bout between the Steelers’ and the Seattle Seahawks.
While Dickinson revealed on a recent episode of the Beyond the Frame podcast that he’s kind of a Chiefs fan, he wore the hometown black and gold in Pittsburgh, and politely removed a team hat just before belting out “Banner.” His first few lines were a little shaky, but the “Air Raid Siren” recouped by anthem’s end, masterfully holding down his final few notes with extended vibrato.
The Steelers still succumbed to the Seahaws, 31-17, but you can peep the Gridiron Maiden moment up above.
