To preview Chelsea Wolfe’s upcoming, stripped-down Unbound EP, the prolific artist hit the NPR studios to take on an intimate, acoustic performance as part of the broadcaster’s long-running Tiny Desk series.
Wolfe and collaborator Ben Chisolm treated the NPR audience to a few low-key, but impactful versions of songs from this year’s She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She. Wolfe strummed her Taylor acoustic guitar through “Whispers in the Echo Chamber,” but focused on vocals for “Dusk” and “Place in the Sun,” as Chisolm fingered-out lithe piano melodies. They then capped the mini-set with “Flatlands,” a tender track from Wolfe’s acoustic 2012 release, Unknown Rooms.
As previously reported, the five-song Unbound EP is out November 15th via Loma Vista. It features minimalist versions of the above-mentioned She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She songs, as well as an unplugged take on Spiritbox’s “Cellar Door,” which Wolfe began performing earlier this year.
Wolfe is likewise confirmed to be playing a few “Unbound”-style sets later this year. You’ll find the info on those North American dates, as well as the artist’s current European tour route, down below.
