Brian Johnson has been keeping his vocal cords in check ahead of AC/DC’s big 2025 tour, having recently busted out a rendition of the Aussie hard rockers’ classic “Highway to Hell” alongside pop royal Lady Gaga for the new A Carpool Karaoke Christmas special.
The newly delivered special, which is streaming in the U.S. now via Apple TV+ and globally by Friday (December 20th), finds Apple host Zane Lowe taking rides with a handful of pop musicians, including Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan. For its most classically rockin’ segment, shot in Los Angeles, the host sits in the back as Lady Gaga and Johnson clasp hands and rip through the eternally hellacious, Bon Scott-era favorite “Highway to Hell.”
On top of performing their in-car karaoke session, an ecstatic Gaga revealed she’s been an AC/DC fan for decades, and likewise that this technically wasn’t the first time she’d teamed up with the band in some capacity.
“You wanna hear something funny? I was in the ‘Stiff Upper Lip’ video,” Gaga explained to Johnson. “I was 17 and I was an extra in the back. I was headbanging and they were, like, ‘Hmmm. Don’t headbang. We want it to be modern.’ And I was, like, ‘No. There’s only one move that I can do.'”
