Randy Blythe has sang on nine albums worth of songs with Lamb of God, not counting the pre-LoG record he and his bandmates made as Burn the Priest. The dude has a humongous body of work under his belt, but he was recently asked by Loudwire to pick the one song in his discography that he’s most proud to have been a part of.
Interestingly, Blythe didn’t reach for one of Lamb of God’s obvious fan-favorites like “Laid to Rest” or “Redneck,” he went with the song “King Me,” a deep cut off their 2012 album, Resolution, that apparently has a great deal of personal meaning to the frontman.
“That song is about me opening my eyes as I became sober and trying not to be such a self-centered prick,” Blythe said of his reasoning to pick “King Me.” “And I think the lyrics are beautiful, too.”
Interestingly, when Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton recently ranked his band’s entire discography, he declared Resolution the second-worst Lamb of God album. His reasoning mostly comes from the fact that he associates that period in his life with a dark descent into substance abuse, which is ironic given what Blythe said about “King Me”‘s message of sobriety.
