After strolling down “Easy Street,” and then hinting at a new album release with a blood-spurting commercial, Queens of the Stone Age have now properly detailed Perfecth, their ninth full-length release.
The album title was hinted at earlier this month in a teaser video that found band leader Josh Homme accidentally plunging a knife into his palm during a botched round of Five Finger Filet. Their Perfecth had been teased to drop as soon as September 30th, but a press release now explains that it’s out on October 30th.
To make up for the scheduling gaffe, they’ve unveiled a second single in the form of the hazy Seventies desert rocker “Insignificant Other.”
It’s explained that the final version of the cut was the band’s second take. Hypno-shimmer electric piano and drunken stumble guitar accents support Homme’s crooned lines reflecting the unpredictable nature of life and how you sometimes need to accept your fate and just go with the flow (“Letting go is beautiful”).
Homme adds in a statement that the song is “about how someone can be your entire world only to simply vanish. And about the strange vertigo of being on the receiving end of that.” You can take in said message via the palm tree-swaying animated lyric video up above.

Perfecth is the full-length follow-up to 2023’s In Times New Roman… album. It was produced by Homme and Queens bassist Michael Shuman, and was recorded between New Orleans, Louisiana, and Los Angeles, California. It’s further explained that its nine songs reflect “different forms of love: of family, friends, and others both significant and insignificant,” and that the album is themed around “the loves that break you beyond survival and the loves that put you back together.”
Perfecth is due out October 30th via Matador Records. A vinyl pre-order can be found in Revolver’s shop, along with other QOTSA merch items.
