Wake up, babe, new Of Mice & Men just dropped.
It’s another metalcore miracle: the California-based quartet have officially confirmed they’ll be releasing a new album this year, and they’re teasing it ahead of time with a brand new single. Pulled from their forthcoming LP, Another Miracle, the track is titled “Wake Up.”
The single, which follows the album’s May-released title track, is described by the band as possessing the “more delicate and almost shoegazy sounds of Nineties alternative acoustic classics,” while still tapping into Of Mice & Men’s modern heaviness.
Lyrically, it’s “a call to consciousness” that balances the drive to “live in the here and now” with “dreamlike metaphoric imagery” (“You’ve been dreaming for so long”).
As with “Another Miracle,” the “Wake Up” video was directed by visual collaborator Mike Matsui. This time around, they shot the vid in San Francisco, and ended up bangin’ out performance footage in a historic church.
“Mike and his team were really able to capture the dreamlike aesthetic of the song,” the group confessed in a joint statement. “Also, we don’t think anyone’s ever played a breakdown in that church before, so we’re pretty sure we made history!”
As for the album, OM&M’s follow-up to 2023’s Tether was written, produced and engineered entirely by the band, while vocalist Aaron Pauley also took on mixing and mastering duties himself, so as to deliver “a more personal and intimate approach to their art.”
The record is said to be “the cumulation of countless hours of collaboration and hard work,” and apparently advances OM&M’s sound into an expansive new era.
“We hope that our fans, old and new, will really enjoy it since we’ve not only raised the bar on the melodic side, we’ve also doubled down on the heaviness all over the album and made what we feel is an incredibly strong and authentic representation of who Of Mice & Men is in 2025.”
