Metallica got back to business with their ongoing M72 World Tour, having delivered their first classically crushing set of 2025 at Syracuse, NY’s JMA Wireless Dome this past Saturday (April 19th).
The standalone show was notably a rarity in ‘Tallica’s current tour, in that it was not done in their now-famed ‘No Repeat Weekends’ two-concert format. All the same, the night began with supporting sets from Suicidal Tendencies and Pantera, before the headliners hit the stage.
Metallica’s one-night-stand in Syracuse offered a decent spread form throughout the icons’ catalogue, kicking off with die-centric Ride the Lightning thrasher “Creeping Death” and that album’s mega-anthem “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” while also hitting anything from Kill ‘Em All’s “Hit the Lights,” to “Master of Puppets” and “Orion,” to Black Album monsters like “Sad But True” and the concert-closing “Enter Sandman.”
‘Tallica also tapped into the modern age with run-throughs of 72 Seasons‘ “Lux Æterna” and “Screaming Suicide,” while Kirk Hammet and Robert Trujillo’s requisite improv “doodle” had them revisiting Death Magnetic’s “Broken, Beat & Scarred” on-stage for the first time since 2013.
The night was notable in that it apparently broke a JMA Wireless Dome attendance record by bringing in over 47,500 metal fans. The Who had previously held the record by drawing 47,319 people into the venue back in 1982, when it was called the Carrier Dome.

Metallica lock back into their “No Repeat Weekend” format at Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Thursday (April 24th) and Saturday (April 26th), with Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies supporting the first night, and Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills taking on the opening roles on the weekend.
