Life burns faster in the Sphere.
Following in the footsteps of U2, Phish and the Eagles, Metallica have officially become the next high-profile rockers to book a residency at Las Vegas, Nevada’s iconic and visually immersive venue.
Today (February 25th), the world’s biggest metal band confirmed that they’ll be staging a series of “No Repeat Weekend”-style shows at the famed, LED-lit venue in October. There will be eight “Life Burns Faster” shows in total, beginning October 1st and 3rd. The final pair of dates at the Sphere land October 29th and October 31st. Per the band, the residency was the thing that had to be.
“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained in a statement of the shows. “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level!”

Rumblings of ‘Tallica’s residency began spreading back in 2025 via Vital Vegas, who’d reported last summer that the thrash icons were ready to lay ink on a contract that’d see them playing multiple shows with the Sphere — the famed venue sporting a massive wraparound interior LED screen and 4D effects.
Even ahead of that, though, Kirk Hammett had let it be known that he’d be down for rocking the Sphere. Last April, at the prompting of a Hollywood Reporter journalist, he replied with a hearty, “Oh, heck, yeah!”
“That’s a great example of how venues are changing,” he continued. “That’s using modern technology to the fullest, to really up the levels of production and entertainment, connected to A.I. and making it a crazy experience.”
As previously reported, Metallica also still have a bunch of “M72 World Tour” dates coming up across Europe this year. Those dates will feature support from Gojira, Pantera, Avatar and Knocked Loose. Those overseas date details are over here.
