Last night (July 29th), Linkin Park returned to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center just 10 months after they first played there with their revamped lineup on one of the earliest dates of the “From Zero World Tour.”
Back in September 2024, the band was still finding its footing, working to re-find and redefine itself now helmed by singer Emily Armstrong in a post-Chester Bennington world. Almost a year later, though the sci-fi-esque stage production remained largely the same, the delivery felt different: This Linkin Park felt both tighter and looser, more cohesive and comfortable, a road-tested unit. The 19,000 assembled fans responded with love, seemingly singing along to every word and screaming along with every scream.
Linkin Park’s two-hour setlist was playful and interactive as the band opened “Numb” with gospel-style drumming — as selected by an audience member — and played a hybrid version of “Lost,” opening with Armstrong and Mike Shinoda backed only by piano before breaking into a full-band performance. They covered Fort Minor’s “Where’d You Go” and quoted Notorious B.I.G.’s “Notorious Thugs.”
