We’re headed into oblivion.
This fatalistically undeniable statement is underscored by Lamb of God‘s announcement today (January 15th) of their highly anticipated new album, fittingly titled Into Oblivion. The Virginian metal gospelists heralded the news with the release of the title track, a ferocious rager in the vein of classic LOG, which arrived accompanied by a performance music video directed by Tom Flynn and Mike Watts.

“For me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation,” LOG guitarist Mark Morton commented of Into Oblivion, the band’s first full-length in four years. “It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, ‘Let’s just make music that we think is cool,’ which is really where it all started.”
Speaking of the album title, vocalist Randy Blythe added: “Because that’s where we’re heading. In general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America. Things are acceptable now that would’ve horrified people just 20 years ago.”
In addition to the title track, Into Oblivion also features the previously released singles “Sepsis” and “Parasocial Christ” in addition to seven other new cuts.
LOG will support the album with the Into Oblivion North American headline tour, kicking off March 17th with openers Kublai Khan TX, Fit for an Autopsy and Sanguisugabogg. Check out the full itinerary below.
